Goofing off lately

After that last huge push to finish the Totally Demented top, I needed some down time.  Mostly I've been cutting squares for postage stamps and for 4-patches (I'm going to need a bunch for Sand Castles 2), but I did manage to stitch up a couple of red cake stands for the RSC.

I've also been putting in some quality time fussy-cutting pieces for my La Passacaglia.  (Still unstarted - I'm just assembling lots of bits and getting ready to start stitching)

I'm planning to hand-stitch La Pas, but there's been a complication.

My stepmom brought home these two young hooligans the other day and they insist that my lap is the only possible place for napping.

Might make stitching a trifle awkward...

Linking with SoScrappy for ScrapHappy Saturday and with Quilting is more fun than Housework for Oh Scrap!  Come see the fun!

(Our beloved old cat Lynx went out for his usual evening ramble about 6 weeks ago and never came back.  We held our breath for the first week, hoping he'd come sauntering through the door, but as time passed we lost heart.  Since life without a cat is too horrible to contemplate, we've now got these two little kitties diligently training us in the fine art of Kitten Care.)  (And I've got the claw marks to prove it)

I can totally understand needing a break from Demented! So sorry about Lynx; I hope the two new kitties will eventually become as beloved.

I love the red cake stands, but the kitties stole my heart. So sorry about losing Lynx. Hugs to you and the new kitties :-)

Love that red and yellow cake stand. Wowzer! That's my style! Hand sewing La Passa is a long term commitment. May it be a fun and peaceful journey for you. So many fun fabric can be used in La Passa. Is this your first hand sewing project? I love hand sewing.
Sorry to hear about Lynx. Hopefully, he found a new family that needed him.
Congratulations on the arrival of the newest family members. I am so jealous. I am looking for a cat too, to help my son with his anxiety ... and because I love cats. XP You can post plenty of pictures of them. I won't complain.
Enjoy! ;^)

It is normal cat behavior to disappear when they are ready to die. One of my 2 Bengals had lymphoma this summer. When I talked to the vet about knowing "the right time to euthanize to limit his suffering", she told me that.

Love the new kittens! You'll love having 2 (this was our first time having 2). They will have so much fun together!!!!

My heart goes out to you for the loss of Lynx. Two kittens will definitely interrupt your sewing...but such fun!!! I'm still loving your cake stand blocks but have so far resisted the temptation, he he he he.....

It looks like it is a good thing you are precutting all that fabric for La Pas. I think you will be doing a lot of sitting and stitching this winter with your new kittens. Thanks for linking up with Oh Scrap!

I'm sorry to hear about Lynx. Glad those kittens like to snuggle with you, though! I love seeing your cake stand blocks, and your beginnings of La Passa. That will be an amazing project to work on!

LOVE your lap warmers, mischief makers! Oh, I envy you. We cannot have another cat at this time, we live in too small a space, and they would find SOMEWHERE to hide somehow. I miss ours, sorry about Lynx. These will definitely help fill the void and then some.

I'm sorry about Lynx but glad you have two new kittens to assist around the sewing room. This is a good time to take stock of our next projects.

Two little kittens will help heal your heart over Lynx’s passing. Congratulations on your new little “hooligans”! Your cake stand blocks are delightful too!

I am so sorry to hear about Lynx and very happy to hear about the two new kittens. And yeah, that two cats on a lap thing won’t last long so plan accordingly. And I couldn’t quite tell from your post...which one is Hooligan and which one is Trifle?

Ahhh, your kittens look adorable. I guess you have to sew while they're playing? Are they siblings? My daughter adopted sib cats and they're much less interested in people than the kittens I adopted (at different times, one at a time) when I was younger. I don't know if it makes a difference with kittens/cats but I understand it does with puppies/dogs. The little tiger grey is beautiful! I'm sorry you lost Lynx. It's hard to have them go and not know what happened to them.
I love your baskets with red backgrounds. Looking forward to see how you put them together.

I'm very behind with blog reading and so sad to read about Lynx, I hope your two new kitties bring you comfort and heaps of fun. Love the brilliantly jazzy fabric cut for your quilt!
