Squirrel!

So this happened.

And then it happened again.

I've been watching Cathy make her Burgoyne Surrounded blocks for months now, and I resisted and I resisted and I resisted some more.

But it was just more than a sensible sensitive woman could stand.

(There's a mistake in the first block I made - two of the little squares in each of the nine-patches should be the inner background instead of the outer background.  I'm trying to ignore it.  I might have to hide the seam ripper, though.)

It's taking me a while to make each block, since I'm trying to find the most efficient way to cut and sew, and efficiency has a price.
At least I cagily used some green in each of the blocks so I could convince myself that they're part of my RSC blocks.

Oh, and speaking of sensitive, while I was working on those blocks, I kept having the feeling I was being watched.  Finally I looked over at the patio door.

Note:  Not our cat.

This pretty siamese visits the yard on a really regular basis, and keeps a close eye on all of us, including the two resident cats.

We suspect she/he/it is taunting our cats with 'Look at me!  I can go here!  I can go there!  I can go anywhere!  You're stuck inside!  Haha!'
Lily and Sam are not amused.

I love your blocks. I've been working on the same quilt for about a year. I'm using red, white and blue scraps. Can't wait to see more of your blocks. Hugs

Ha - that's like Ollie! He comes and stares in the backdoor until I notice him.
Then he starts doing the paw dance because he knows, I'll bring him catnip or a treat.

Took me quite a while to find your "mistake"; I think you should just say it was a design decision. Yes, they definitely qualify for RSC in my book -- and you know MY book counts! Seeing the Siamese makes me wistful; I miss mine but after 35 years, not enough to get another.

Oh, pretty blocks and I can see why it is so tempting (look away Sharon).

Jealous! I'm still petting fabric and thinking about Burgoyne - have actually TRIED anything yet!

I love squirrels! And Buddy says that is a beautiful Mountain Lion sitting at your door. He thinks it looks hungry and you should feed it right away.

Lovely blocks! This is one that has always appealed to me too, but I'm not starting anything more... just now!

I've always admired this pattern but that's as far it went! Are they very time consuming to cut and sew? Lovely Siamese, we're having problems with the cats next door coming round and attacking little Leila- two visits to the vet already, one bit eon the foreleg through to the bone and the other a tear on her side!!

Yes, yes, me too I want a Burgoyne Surround quilt. Your blocks are so pretty. You did a great job and nope, didn't notice the Oops before you mentioned it. Can't wait to see more of them.
He is a very beautiful Siamese cat. I had one (before the children) and it is a very intelligent breed. That could open almost any door in the house. Too funny. Very talkative too. Well that one was anyway. Enjoy the new project. ;^)

Oh, yes!!! You are under my spell!!
Looking good. I usually make the nine patches with the right pieces but frequently have at least one turned incorrectly in a block. And in the overall busy scheme of things...who cares? (I must since I rip and turn correctly no matter how hard I try to ignore).

I cut from scrap "chunks" and the size of the chunk and/or the size of scraps I'm low on influences the way I cut pieces for each block. And I've found it easier to cut for many at one time than each one individually. I'm trying to make those first each month then use the scraps in other projects as the month goes on.

I want to make this pattern someday too but I'm trying to ignore that urge until I finish some other projects first. Mainly because I want to make my quilt in blues and I need to finish the current scrappy blue quilt. Maybe I should just quit looking at other people's blogs, they just enable me!

Your blocks look great--I didn't notice the "mistake" until you pointed it out and I don't think anyone else would either (said by someone who recently picked apart an entire quilt--lol!). I think that kitty is looking for some partners in crime!

I studied your two blocks for as long as a Kat could focus, but couldn't find any mistakes. Go for the trotting horse theory...
