Personally I'd make sure to watch the thumb placement. I remember a few years ago when the Yarn Harlot made two right mittens. Colorwork too. Ouch!
I'm paranoid about mittens even without the colorwork! I'm sure you'll be fine - and any mismatches can be "design placements" or a contemporary statement with traditional handicrafts...right? Right??? ;)
