Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2016 wrapped up

So what do you get when you start with a fabulous tutorial and pattern from the fabulous Sally T (there are two sizes, so I'm giving links to both) and then mix it with a year's worth of scraps for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge?

You get a bunch of these -

in a whole dancing rainbow of colors.

Then if you make them run uphill

and downhill,

and give them a nice meadow to play in,

you end up with a top that looks like this.

Now just throw in some bacon (because according to my dad, I add bacon to everything)  (can't argue with him there)  (because bacon)

and add some whooshing lines of quilting,

and a nice confetti binding,

and you get a perfect quilt to give your dad for Christmas.  (He raises pigs.  He knows a good pig when he sees one.)

He loved it, by the way.  I had a feeling he would.  And he got one right big chuckle out of that bacon fabric on the back, as did all family members who've seen it since.
And I got a big chuckle when he asked me if I'd put it on the internet.  See, he doesn't read my blog, so I got to tell him "Dad, there were people all over the world who knew you were getting a piggy quilt for Christmas, and you had no idea..."

Thanks, Angela, for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.  Without the RSC to get me and keep me going with this project, this Higgledy Piggledy quilt of mine never would have happened.
Oh, and Dad thanks you, too!

Linking with ScrapHappy Saturday at SoScrappy for the End of RSC2016 WrapUp.  Come see what rainbows of fun have been happening!

Such a fun quilt to look at. A parade of piglets, all dressed differently. So cute! I'm with Joyful; can't wait to see what kind of trouble you're brewing for this year!! lol. ;^)

So cute, and of course the bacon is perfect.

You are definitely the pig whisperer for taking the sad caged static piglet pattern and letting them loose to run with joy and abandon.

So glad Dad liked it! But what dad wouldn't love something his daughter made for him?

This turned out so wonderfully! I am glad he liked it. My family members don't read my blog much either, and then they find out how much they have been missing out.

Your dad is one lucky guy having a daug like you. Who else would give him such a thoughtful gift and be able to keep him in the dark when the whole world of quilters is in on the fun. Thanks for a really great year of laughter. What's up next?

Oink if you love pigs. I guess if you have a secret, you post it on your blog.

They are so catching ;-) Thanks for the inspiration and the story of gifting your wonderful piggies. I've got some pigs in airline seats that might be perfect backing for a piggy quilt....hmmmmmmm, the possibilities.

And I see you have lured others in blog land into your pigpen! What a fun quilt. It was fun watching you make it too.

Awesome! I had bacon this morning ... just to go with the quilt! Love how they are running up and down the hills. A perfect quilt setting and what a great finish. Bacon fabric..... so funny but perfect.... good thing it is on the back, cause those pigs might feel bad seeing what they might become.

A delightful conclusion to the piggie project. Can't wait to see where your wacky inspiration leads you next, but you have plenty of possibilities already in the works. Always fun to read your blog.

I never clued in to the fact this was going to your Dad for Christmas. What a terrific gift! And I bet there are enough piggies still running around for you to have a quilt for yourself eventually. Ooo, piggies surrounded by silly monkeys! And cavorting chickens!
