Biddy, Bags, and Blocks

The Retreat Bag pattern that I showed off a couple of days ago actually comes in two sizes, so, flushed with success and with fabric left over, I made the smaller size bag, adding handles and an outside pocket.

I like this one, too.  The larger one has been pressed into service as an organizer for block pieces for quilts I'm not actually making, so it's a good thing it's got a lot of room...

And believe it or not, I actually got a block for the 365 Challenge done.  I dropped the ball on this quilt project last year around this time, so I'm trying to get it up and running again.

That's the block for May 23.  Now I just need to back up and sew the 18th-22nd, and then I'll be ready to roll.
Well, that's the plan, anyway.  Some of you are familiar with my plans...

About the only RSC sewing I got done this week was a spool, a couple of hourglasses, and a little red green hen.  She's going into the Clucker collection with the other biddies.

Oh, and another Glitter.   Had to make a little Glitter, ya see.

The pieces are cut for the next Burgoyne Surrounded block.  I think I've now got a pretty good handle on the best way (for me) to sew this block.

It involves laying out all the 1.5" x 6" pieces, so I don't get confused while making the four patches and nine patches.

Not that I would get confused, of course.
It's purely a coincidence that my seam ripper is showing signs of wear...

Linking with SoScrappy for ScrapHappy Saturday's last week of scrappy green goodness, and with Quilting is more fun than Housework for Oh, Scrap!  Come see all the colorful fun!

Amazing what you can accomplish when you don't have to feed piglets through the night.

Hmm...those bags are interesting. One looks Molly sized and the other one might fit Buddy. Just a little venting...in case I want them to breathe...

Your plans are like mine, made of Jello. :>) My pat answer is, "I'm retired, so I can indulge my A.D.D." Besides, if I was organized, neat, and finished what I started. What would my kids have to wonder or be amused about after I die, while they sort through the junk to get rid of what they didn't want? Another thought, at least I'm not hide money amongst the scraps of fabric or between pages of books like my crazy aunt.

Those bags are really neat, probably useful for many different purposes! I like seeing all of the other blocks you're working on, too - glad to know I'm not the only one who likes a smorgabord of projects to choose from!

I like the latest BS fabrics! I'm waiting for the next RSC color to see if another BS gets made...

Gosh I wish I could be that productive. Great job Gayle. Love the bags. The orange handles are a great addition. Congrats! A green hen? She must come from Dr. Seuss's backyard, lol. You are encouraging me to get back to the 365 Challenge. We can do this, Gayle, yes we can!! Hope your seam ripper goes on vacation soon. "wink" ;^)

You're gonna need a bigger bag.... (said in an imitation a la Jaws....)

Ha! I actually bought a new seam ripper just a couple of weeks ago, to replace the older of the two I use on a regular basis. They do wear out, little though we would think it! Love your green hen. And the bags!!!

Looking great. The hen looks right at home in green.

You are now hiding your WIPs in bags as you finish them. It will be like Christmas when you come across them again!

Thanks for sharing all your lovely blocks with Oh Scrap! It is fun to see the Quilty 365 project again.

Amazing that you had the stamina to do the second bag so neatly. I would have gone to bed after one. The little green hen is adorable! You have my permission to tell Molly that I gasped with delight when I saw her gorgeous green eyes!

That 365 challenge quilt is sure a challenge! I started last year a little while after you did and I am only up to June 9th or so. Just keep plugging along, you can do it! I am making mine scrappy but with pink as sort of my primary colorway. Those blocks are like little treasures and I love all of them. Even the mitered corner ones. Mostly.
