I've been hearing a frog (I assume) in the back yard for about a week but it doesn't sound like high-pitched peeper chirping. It's just one, deeper-pitched "creeeek... creeeek..." I've been listing to Vermont frog calls but haven't been able to find the right one.
Huh. Our peepers are still buried deep in the mud (is that where they go?) under several inches of ice and snow and, as of right now, more snow and ice. Apparently spring has taken a pass on our part of the world this year...

I'm jealous! I miss hearing the spring peepers! Enjoy!

Whoa, I thought it was a man in a trench coat, but your reaction was somewhat calm for that!
They're out here-- not peeping, though, but, um, having orgasms. Our frog pond is rippling with the sights and sounds of frog sex. It's obscene.
Oh, jesus. I should post about this.
