There's a new feature on the dashboard of my car. It's a little light that says "Check Engine." Okay. I opened the hood and checked the engine. Yep, still there. Well, that was easy enough. But that little light is still on...
It's a royal PITA. Sometimes it means nothing. Other times it means everything. ANd the only way to find out is to bring it to the money grubbing dealer/mechanic.
Your post brought back nightmares for me. After putting $1,200 into my car, the next week the engine light came on. My car would sometimes just come to a slow, quiet rolling stop. The engine light could mean gas cap not on tight enough to the catalytic converter having problems. Good luck! (I now have a different car...an unAmerican Toyota and I love it!)
I know what you mean... My engine light works like a thermometre... It will turn on if the weather goes below -25 degrees celcius, and then it won't turn off until it has been above 0 for at least two days... my best guess is that the sensor in my gas tank freezes when it gets too cold... cost quite a bit to come to that conclusion though!
