The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

First, the Good -We haz chix! There are 50 little Cornish X chicks in a bathtub box in our living room. (Any similarity between that picture and one of the circles of hell is due to the heat lamp we have hanging over the box. Very red light...)
Then there's the Bad. The chicks are a day early. Just like they were last year... And once again, our soon-to-hatch chicks

are going to be starting behind the boughten chicks.
*sigh*

Our last hatch-batch are just about ready to be moved outdoors. Here's a pic of the little hooligans cuties, all feathered out. (Well, mostly feathered out. They're a bit scruffy looking, still.)

These two are saying "Poor Mama..." Because the Ugly? It's April 15th. I spent most of the day doing our taxes.
I would rather take out my own spleen with a rusty soupspoon than do taxes.
But we figured out back in February that we were going to have to pay in this year, for the first time ever. So there was no real incentive to get them done early. So, what do you think happens when you tell two procrastinators that there's no hurry?
Yep.
Granted, for the last two weeks, we've been saying "Oh, we'll have to get those taxes done soon." And nodding at each other. And that was about as far as we got.
The worst part? I had to do them manually. On paper. Like back in the Dark Ages of the 20th Century.

  1. Not being a chicken person, why is the bad situation bad?

And if you reply to my post today you can procrastinate on your taxes a little longer! No need to thank me, happy to help!

  3. I know the feeling. We had been using Turbo Tax but since we decided to file the business under what appears to be an obscure IRS category only for married couples now we can't use any of the software. Sigh....

Ours went in on paper too, with a check but that's because of Self Employment tax.

    Chicks are cute!

  4. Chicks are darling. Just how much noise do all the little critters make? Keeping you up at night?

Wrt taxes: its over now. Enuf said (Be thankful you're not Dude and I wasn't blogging this week- in the middle of a really rough week (mine) he had a work crisis and all I could do was email him and Gloat that my taxes were done. Nevermind that he was working 24 hours ... my taxes were done.)

Of course, I'd be late if I were watching leetle chickens hatch.

  6. We do ours on paper all the time. :D Luddites. I hope yours went as well as it can be when you pay (more).

  7. Poor baby -- I cannot imagine doing taxes by hand. Although I nearly ended up doing one of our state returns that way this year; happily, it turned out that the H&R Block software was correct, weird as it was.

Just think, no more thinking about taxes for (almost) another year!
