I must have left a window open

Because a squirrel seems to have sneaked in...

I'd been admiring Ann's Lone Stars for quite a while,  and Angie recently made one into a pillow.

How could I resist the call of the star?

Of course, I constructed the diamond sections from memory instead of hunting up a reference to work from.  And being me, I needlessly complicated it by making the points of them different colors.

But here I am with diamonds to play with.

Trying out different layouts.  Yellow to the inside, or purple?

Or why not both?

And now that I've got that out of my system, I can get back to my regularly scheduled programming.

(I have no idea what I'll use this for.  Maybe a center for a medallion quilt?  Ah, well, that's for the future.)

  1. That's a gorgeous squirrel! I like the yellow in the middle star. But that's just me. Enjoy the weekend. ;^)

  2. It's that time of year; an open window is an open invitation ...

  3. Now why am I not surprised to see another pretty squirrel in your studio!!! I think either the purple in the centre or the mix of both yellow and purple,

  4. Really, seriously, you constructed that without looking at any kind of reference? I wouldn't know where to start! That's the prettiest squirrel I've seen in a long time!

  5. It seems to be a common malady of the season, this squirrel invasion, there's been a bit of that happening here too. I love the 8 pointed star quilts but haven't quite summoned the courage to attempt one - yet. I like both the blue/purple in the center or the alternating color points.

  6. Starry, starry squirrel! I love the colors - so fun to look at! But I will leave the sewing to your expert hands!

  7. Fun star to play with, like those wooden Chinese puzzles we had as children - all diamonds and triangles and endless possibilities. It's exhilarating to make an excursion into squirrel land, enjoy it!

  8. Just one????
How can you stop at one??
I can't decide which color of center I like best. You know I don't dither...

Only creepy things and dust and pollen come in my windows. You must have a magic window. That block is magical.

  9. I like the third picture a lot where the center mirrors the points...
Squirrels are dashing around my yard--hopefully none will get in here...;)))

  10. My first thought was, well, just make more stars, some with purple centers, some yellow and some mixed. But then that would mean making even more stars and we all know how good you are at stopping at one block. Oh wait...

  12. Those squirrels certainly know where to find the nuts!

I love the last version of your star. Looks like a carnival to me. :-)

  13. Squirrel indeed -- what a beauty (I like the option with the two colors split between inside and out).
