I saw a fun looking quilt along posted on Temecula Quilts the other day, but managed to resist jumping in. No way, got too many projects going already. Nope nope nope.
Danger averted, yeah?
Then on Kathy's blog, I saw that she was starting the quilt along and talking up how much fun it was gonna be. I covered my eyes and started chanting "La La La Can't see you!"
And then. THEN I saw on Sandy's blog that she had seen Kathy's blog post about the Temecula post and was joining up and AGAIN pointing out how much fun it will be.
This was getting deep.
And it wasn't like I wasn't already cutting 1" and 1.25" strips for another totally unrelated project that I'm also not starting...
So I figured what's the harm? Monday Mini week one -
Though it doesn't totally explain why I made three of them.
Then again, if you consider the fact that I'm mostly not making a Burgoyne Surrounded quilt but am piling up more and more bits ready to be stitched into blocks-
and have sorted those bits into kits for blocks 10-12 (because I was totally going to stop with nine blocks for this completely imaginary quilt),
then I guess it makes total sense that I would make three times as many blocks as I needed to for this new quilt along that I'm absolutely not starting.
It's only a mini after all. How could this possibly go wrong?
Linking with Quilting is more fun than Housework for Oh Scrap! - because I seem to be burying myself in scraps!
I love how you say: "nope, nope, nope" and then all of sudden there are the new blocks for a new project :-) You amaze me !!
ReplyDeleteOh "and another one bites the dust" I SAW that post of Kathy's too and I am soooooo
ReplyDelete(sayin' lalalala, and covering my eyes, too) tempted...
I actually have some small strips --am just finishing up my Slab quilt along--oh,
AND did you see that one at "Sewyouquilt2 's blog??? Dawn has four of us slabbing away...just sayin' (lol) ;)))
Your little Tem. block is just so, so adorable...I may HAVe to do it...
Hugs, Julierose
Gotta use up those scraps I guess! And I can see why you almost didn't start...those little blocks are very cute!
ReplyDeleteGirlfriend, I've heard that chorus before, coming right from the depths of my own studio. I say, "Go for it!"
ReplyDeleteWell, don't tell anyone, but I *may* have made one of those Monday Mini blocks, too... Just one, though. 😜
ReplyDeleteHey, I say if it tickles your funny bone - go with the laughter.
ReplyDeleteI was resisting until I saw Kathy's post too. I was justifying joining in by doubling the size of the blocks so I could donate it. Now I am thinking I could make both a mini and a larger version! Thanks my friend! ;)
ReplyDeleteHow can it go wrong? I mean even if a Monkey hides one, you still have two and if a clucker pecks one, you still have one so what's the harm, right? (I so love reading your posts. You make me laugh and that's good therapy. Not as much as fabric but still, it's good for the soul.) Enjoy the non-started project. ;^)
ReplyDeleteI keep seeing new quilt-a-longs and mystery quilts starting up, and I am also having a difficult time turning away from them. So far, I've managed to stay on track with my own projects, but I am getting very weak. Your blocks look great by the way. I'll just have to admire everyone else's pictures from the quilt-a-longs. --Andrea
ReplyDeleteSome gorgeous looking blocks there. I might just have to check this out for myself.
ReplyDeleteAll of your blocks are lovely, especially the new not-a-projects blocks. I'm definitely not starting that one. However when I was cutting squares for my RSC blocks, I might have cut pieces to make a Circle of Squares block, well, maybe I actually cut the pieces for 8 blocks but I'm not going to start making these blocks until next year but I might sew these up this month if there is time, so maybe I might make some more next month. All because I saw the block on another blog. Maybe I should just quit reading other peoples blogs.
ReplyDeleteWoohoo!!! Thanks for "not Joining" along with me....lol....
ReplyDeleteWell, of course you are not starting that quilt. Or that other one. That would be crazy, right? And you are not crazy, right? Right?!?!
ReplyDeleteYou have more wild power than I have if you can resit starting a new project. I am weak
ReplyDeleteI love your imaginary quilts! Those scrappy little devils look like confetti, such fun!
ReplyDeleteI really like your imaginary quilt. I'm thinking of making one of those myself. ;-)
ReplyDeleteCute chicks too!
