Most of my sewing time has been lavished on En Provence (almost done!), but I did finally take some time to play with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. Here's one of those crazy cluckers:
(Note to self - when it's been a couple of weeks since you last did any paper-piecing, do a simpler block first as a warmup.) (Because for every three seams, I had to unpick two and try again.) (*sigh*)
My spools aren't officially an RSC block, but as long as I've got fabrics on the cutting table...
The pink one is actually a lavender left over from January. The one on the left is one of those colors that isn't quite green and isn't quite blue, which is spot on for February.
I stood on a chair to take a picture of En Provence, and it still wasn't enough to catch the whole thing. Side borders are on, top and bottom outer borders are assembled and just need to be attached.
Almost there!
Linking with SoScrappy for ScrapHappy Saturday! Come see all the rainbows!
Wow! Congrats on sticking with en Provence. It didn't became a UFO like mine, lol. It is a beautiful quilt. Great job on that one. I think your clucker is full of eggs. Let a piglet join in and you'll have a picture of ham and green eggs! I think I've read that before ... lol! Still haven't started on my cluckers. Love yours. ;^)
ReplyDeleteI love the orange in your En Provence! Such a beautiful quilt! Cluckers and spools look like the perfect "in between" blocks for the times when you need a break from En Provence!
ReplyDeleteLove the newest addition to the flock of chickens!
ReplyDeleteKudos to you for powering through En Provence! Your color choices worked out great!
that chicken!!! Hilarious!
ReplyDeleteYour colour choices for En Provence are beautiful. That chicken turned out beautifully, and I sympathise with you on the process; that's what I dislike about paper-piecing asymmetrical shapes too. Look on the bright side: by December you'll have those chickens rolling out in no time.
ReplyDeleteFirst thought was 'how did she get those perfect points!!" Ah paper piecing on the chicken, now I get it :)
ReplyDeleteEn Provence is gorgeous ; beautiful progress!
Your EP is gorgeous, I love the colors and congrats on a great finish.
ReplyDeleteI'm usually okay with paper piecing if it's not teeny tiny little itty bitty pieces. Gotta love that crazy chicken, I need to get the pattern and have at it.
I'm a bit concerned about your well being...usually when you state something like "but as long as I've got fabrics on the cutting table..." we see at least ten yards worth of blocks. Did the monkeys steal them?
ReplyDeleteI can see why you'd want to spend a lot of time with En Provence. It's certainly some time well spent.
ReplyDeleteI always screw up paper pieced blocks and usually waste a lot of fabric because I either cut pieces incorrectly, sew them on to paper in wrong direction, etc. I'm directionally challenged, I guess. Cute chicken, though.
You are so very close to a beautiful finish. Way to go.! I really like how to finished out the border. Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!
ReplyDeleteLove your version of EP---those orange stars really pop!
ReplyDeleteFunky chicken, beautiful bow ties, and EXCELLENT En Provence!! Looks like a productive week, any way you slice it.
ReplyDeleteLove your clickers! And am glad to hear someone else has fabric as old as mine isπ±! Think that tells our ages?! π΅π»
