Rolling up the rainbow

All the rows of the rainbow Ohio stars are sewn together.  (And, man, I've got to think of a name for this quilt soon...)

With everything pressed good and flat, seams pointing in opposite directions, I stacked the rows neatly in order, from one corner to the other.

And in the hopes of not having to press them all again next time I get ready to lay them out, I rolled them neatly up into a sausage.
Mmmm...  sausage...

And then I got out the vacuum cleaner and spent an hour slurping up all those little thready bits that you can see in the backgrounds of these photos.  Oh, and those little dogear bits on the floor by my sewing table.
Not that quilting is messy or anything.   I put all that stuff on the floor on purpose.  You know, for decoration.
And because I like vacuuming.  Uh huh.

I'm going to be using this as my post for RSC this week at So Scrappy.  Come see all the rainbow fun!

  1. Getting closer! Wish I had a catchy name for your quilt but I am really bad at naming them.

  2. Oh, I thought that was confetti on the carpet and you were celebrating getting those rows together. I have to pin a row number to mine. I'm not such a neat roller (or presser).

I'm terrible at naming my own quilts so no offer for yours!

  4. No quilting is not messy and a clean house is for boring people lol. (Sorry to the boring people.) Your quilt is just awesome. You did an excellent job considering that you started long after everyone else on the RSC and yet you are finishing with us. To continue that train of thoughts, how about something like "Jump In Stars" or "Last One In"? Yea okay, I'll grant you it is not that good but hope it will inspire you. Good luck.
    Enjoy the vacuuming!! lol ;^)

  5. It's also awesome how all those little bits and strings stick to your feet so you can track the little bits all over the house.. it's like crafting confetti! Every day is a party!

  8. Rainbow Over Ohio? Yeah, really creative here. Oh, and I decorate my sewing area the same way.

  9. It is a star quilt. Maybe a celestial name? Orion? Nebula? Milky Way. Rainbow horizon. What is your favorite constellation? Just brainstoing here. Great progress on getting the rows ready. Love those dog ears and thread snippettes. They seem to multiply and spread

  10. I don't have carpets in my house so cleaning the floor is really easy. But at the same time you see an awesome amount of dirt piling up as you sweep it. Plus I have a cat....need I say more?
Neat way to keep your rows together. As for a name I like Angela's idea of the celestial name.

  12. The idea of laying your rows out then rolling up is so good! We could all use this method.

  13. Naming a quilt. Good luck with that one! What about Shimmering Rainbow Stars since the quilt seems to glow from within the center.
