Oh, $hit. That's not a kitty...

Madman had put out a Hav-a-Heart trap, trying to catch what we thought was a fox or a weasel that had been lurking around our place, raiding the compost pile and bothering the chickens.
When he checked it this morning, he thought he'd caught one of the neighbor's cats.
Until he looked closer.
He's now got a very large, very pissed-off skunk in the trap.

Good thing he's got today off...

  2. I look forward to a full report on just exactly how he got that skunk out of the trap without getting sprayed (or a full report on just exactly what it is like to be sprayed).

  3. How the hell is he going to get rid of a ticked off skunk in a trap. Poor Madman!

  6. True fact: out of all the animals in the woods out here, the one I'm most afraid of is skunks. Cougars? Bears? Sure. But SKUNKS.

  7. Oh no! That poor Madman. I hope he has a good plan on how to deal with it.

  8. Oh my - I have a skunk story to tell you - but I'll email it to you later - I don't want to splash it willy nilly all over the internet...

  9. Oh gawd. Did not know we were living parallel lives. Oy oy oy oy. It's been BRUTAL. The thing I have learned (Mr. Jefferies took a close, direct hit in the face) is that up close and personal, it smells way worse (and way different -- something like a combination of stale onion breath and fuel oil) than some vague far-away roadkilled skunk. UGH. I'm dying here, and just when I think I have it beat, I go outside and come back in, only to smell it as if I've never done a thing. Very embarrassing in social situations too.
