Oh, No!!!!

What we saw by the dawn's early light:

It's only mid-October. But it is Vermont, after all.
Still snowing as I got ready to leave for work.

The sheep don't seem concerned.

There was talk all day of "This won't stick." But there's always an inherent fatalism in that remark. This one won't stick, but the next one might. The one after will stick, for sure. We'll be back in the land of boots and snowshovels.
Full battle gear will be required before leaving the house: hat, coat, scarf, boots, gloves. Ice scraper. Snow brush. Extra time will have to be allowed in the morning for shoveling out to the car, brushing off the snow, warming up the engine.

*sigh*
It's only mid-October...

  1. Me.too. Sigh. It is lovely the first few times. But it is SO early. We even saw a few flakes in Southern Wisconsin on Saturday.

  2. It snowed for all of 3 minutes here and then just rain all day. I'll never understand how I can be an hour NORTH of you and warmer most of the time. Wierd.

  3. That's not fair. You ought to get a longer fall than that. It isn't even Halloween yet.

  4. Does seem early. I think we frosted for the first time last night, an average sort of date for this event here. No snow. Lots of rain.

  5. oh! My mum spent last Christmas with my sister in Vancouver - she has always thought snow very beautiful but after just six weeks of constant heavy snow she doesn't care if she never sees it again! It does look so lovely to me, but I shall sympathise with you over your early snow. Bummer.

  6. Yesterday I only got a little slushy rain in the White River Jct. area. But this morning... thick frost on the car. Yes, it's getting to the point where I'll have to come out in the morning to heat up the car.

  8. looks amazing to me. it's still to be in the 90s here through the end of the week at least, so I am jealous of your snow.

  9. Even with the early October snow... I still miss New England so much! It's just not the same in Maryland.

Although if I were up there, I'd probably be uttering some choice words on the topic.
