Frankly, I can't thing of anything to say. Or rather, I can think of any number of things to say, but perhaps it's best to keep such thoughts to myself...
My dad planted carrots one year in Tucson. They grew down about 4 inches, hit the layer of hard clay under the sandy soil, and turned left. We had "L" shaped carrots that couldn't be pulled; they had to be dug out!
