Itty Bitties and more Itty Bitties

It seems most of my sewing lately has involved itty bitty pieces.  Like the second block in the Temecula Monday Mini QAL, for instance.

That whole block measures 4" unfinished.  The little block in the center?  That's a tiny 1.5" finish.   Itty bitty HSTs.  Itty.  And bitty.

And more itty bitty HSTs turn up in the 6" blocks I'm doing for the 365 Challenge.  Those little half inch triangles involve a lot of breath-holding.  And occasional swearing.

Those two put me at only a month behind in that Challenge.  Well, a year and a month, but who's counting?

For a bit of relief, I managed to sew another Burgoyne Surrounded block together.  (That's #10!)  These finish at 15", so practically feel like circus tents after all those bitty blocks.

I haven't pressed any of the above blocks, yet.  Need to get out the iron and ironing board and do a major flattening session, as you can see.

And look who turned up while I was shuffling through my scraps -

Just when I thought I'd thrown them off the trail, here come those monkeys again...

Linking up with ScrapTastic Tuesday.  Come see what everyone is up to with all their bright happy scraps!

I made a mini basket in a class with Sally Collins once. My fingers have finally recovered!

Great blocks. I love mini's so I will not be able to resist joining in the fun. But on the other hand thinking some big blocks might finally whittle down my stash to a manageable size?! Love your work.

I keep seeing all these itty bitty squares showing up in my blog feed. I simply do not have the patience for them, so I'm glad to be able to look at everyone else's. You have some really fun ones. --Andrea

Steady progress here! Loving how 'oldish' blocks like Burgoyne Surrounded are getting a new lease of life, I've seen a quite a few now!

Are you making those minis without paper piecing? Those are some tiny HSTs!
Love the new BS! I've got some fabrics picked (finally) to make some more...

OMG and LOL, I just finished this week's Monday Mini block - itty and bitty, for sure! I think the key is starch, lots and lots of starch! I think yours looks great, and your other blocks, too!

Now...I like itty...and I like bitty...but I never do itty bitty! Gosh, how cute but those itty bitty HSTs seem so impossible but you seemed to have no problems. Congrats to you.

Nice BS...I'm glad you are sewing those.

And I'm sure glad at least one monkey has surfaced.

Cool blocks but those itty bitty's are amazingly small! Soon you'll be making miniature quilts?

Awesome blocks, Gayle. I just can't wrap my head around the first block. Only 4 inches and so many pieces in the middle!! How? WOW! What? Anywho! I'm floored! Congratulations on continuing with the 365 Challenge. I have to get back in the wagon too. ;^)

Bravo for those itty bitty blocks and it is great to change up the scale sometimes as a relief! Love the Burgoyne surrounded - I think it is those diagonal trails I find so appealing at the moment. Thanks for linking up to #scraptastictuesday

I've said it before and I'll say it again: You're a crazy woman! If I didn't think you had plenty of itty bitty scraps already to play with I'd send you what I've been throwing into my wastebasket. ;-) I played with itty bitty for a while, some years back. Fortunately I've come to my senses since then!
