Aqua Away!

So Angela has declared aqua to be the color for June.  It's not a color I have a lot of, but I'll see what I can do.
Though the fact that I'm visiting my daughter and her family again and my stash is five hours north of me is going to complicate things.  That's the second time this year that this has happened to me.  From now on, I'm just going to travel with the whole stash.
Or maybe I just need a rainbow traveling stash...

I did manage to throw together a piglet in aqua -

and I'd had one more in green cut out and ready to sew, so he got assembled, too.  That will finish off the May greens.

I'll have to dig through the fabrics I brought along to see if I've got anything else to play with.  Mostly I'd packed up my reds, blues, and browns for my 365 Challenge blocks.  I'm still dreaming that I'll get caught up with that.
And I threw in some brights to not (definitely not) cut out some more parts for Glitter blocks.  Not.  Because I'm not starting that quilt.  Though just randomly cutting some bits of fabric isn't really starting a quilt, right?
I'm going to need another bin to keep those Not-Glitter bits in, though.

But, hey, there's some aqua in another project I threw in my busy bag - this laceweight yarn I spun years ago from some merino/tencel roving I got at a Vermont Sheep and Wool Festival.

I wound it into balls last night and then cast on for a Feather Duster.  What looks like bronze in that photo is really a purple, and the yarn has a real ostrich feather coloration, so I think it will make a beautiful feathery shawl.

Linking with So Scrappy for ScrapHappy Saturday.  Come see all the aqua goodness!

Of course randomly cutting fabric is NOT starting a quilt. I'll back you up.

Great fabrics for your pigs. They are so adorable.

Just don't travel over the end/beginning of any month; that way you can pack what you need. I have lots of Caribbean blue yardage but only a handful of scraps. Either I love those colors a lot or not at all, I'm not sure ...

Beautiful yarn. Looking forward to see what you do with it.

Poor Gayle. I wouldn't want to be 5 hours away from my stash on the first of the month. Maybe you should leave home on the second of the month lol. Love the aqua pig. Can we call him the beachbum? lol. Feather Duster is a gorgeous shawl. Enjoy the cutting of fabric. It's not a crime!! ;^)

You don't need to travel with your ENTIRE stash... only the SCRAPS! :P
BTW, I checked out Feather Duster on Ravelry. Yours is going to be spectacular in that handspun!! (And those piggies are perfect... my favorites yet.)

Love that aqua piglet - she needs some swim fins so she can hop in a swimming pool!
Can't wait to see your yarn knit up! The pattern looks like it will make good use of all the colors and be ethereal to boot!

Still in love with those piglets. I've been away too, and my piglets are far behind. Now I'm home, but THE SUN IS SHINING, so I can't stay inside with my sewing machine. Maybe next week? Have a nice Sunday!

Umm, Glitter blocks? Did I miss something? (Could be I've just forgotten - you have so many projects you haven't started that I've lost track!)

I don't see a problem with cutting into your stash to create scraps! Don't we all do that? Or maybe I shouldn't admit to it! I love your first aqua piggy, and I bet some more will join him soon!

How else can you get scraps other than by cutting yardage? Cut a strip off each one. It can't hurt, can it. Then, of course it is no longer intact and is now fair game. Your piglet is not scrappy and see how nice he looks!

Feather Duster will be lovely!

Oh, gosh...you can make a shawl like that and even spin your own yarn for it? I'm impressed.

Yes, I can envision you traveling with a rainbow stash. I envision you as a character like Pigpen but instead of being surrounded by a dust storm you are surrounded by a swirl of fabrics in rainbow colors.

The piggies are such fun. The yarn is gorgeous and will make a lovely shawl. Enjoy the visit with your family.

Aqua piglet is delightful. It makes me wonder why pigs aren't aqua in real life.
